VKontakte
What it does
Connects VK community messages and comments under community posts to the Evercom inbox. The integration works with communities, not personal VK messages.
When to use it
Use VKontakte when customers contact the business through a VK group or community.
Connect a community
- Open Settings → Channels, add a channel, and choose VKontakte.
- Sign in to VK in the separate authorization window. Your channel page and its dialog stay open. If the browser blocks the window, use the continue action in the dialog.
- When the community list is ready, select the communities you administer and want to connect.
- Review the requested permissions, then approve access for the selected communities in the next VK window.
Evercom saves the authorized communities and verifies message delivery through the public callback address. A community becomes active only after VK confirms that callback. Closing or reloading the main browser tab does not make a pending connection count as connected.
If authorization succeeds but delivery setup is still pending, use Retry connection on the community. This retries callback setup with the saved authorization. Sign in again only when VK permissions or the token are no longer valid.
Production setup requires configured VK app credentials, community message permissions, and a public HTTPS callback address that VK can reach. The browser return address and the message delivery callback are separate settings.
Messages and attachments
An active community channel receives customer messages and replies sent from VK in the same conversation. Operators can send text, photos, and documents from Evercom. Incoming voice messages can be played after their attachment has loaded.
After setup, send a test message to the community from a VK user account and reply from Evercom to check delivery in both directions.
Comments under posts
New comments appear in a separate conversation for each post, using the same post discussion view as Instagram. Open the post link to see the original in VK. Comments by different people stay together; replies retain their parent comment.
Choose Reply on a comment to answer that comment from the community, or send from the post conversation without a selected comment to add a top-level reply. Text and document attachments are supported. Photo-specific wall uploads and editing or deleting already sent VK comments are unavailable.
Edits, deletions and restorations made in VK update comments already received by Evercom. After an upgrade, existing active communities receive the comment subscription automatically. Reconnecting is not normally needed.
VK does not resend comments written before the subscription was enabled. Loading older comments and showing the full post preview require the installation's optional VK service token. Without it, new comments and replies still work and the conversation shows a link to the post.
Local testing
VK sign-in can return a browser to evercom.loc, but VK servers cannot send
community events to that local address. Signing in again does not resolve this.
For local interface testing, an administrator can enable
VK_CALLBACK_MODE=deferred. Authorized communities are then saved as paused
channels with a notice that messages are unavailable locally. They cannot send
or receive messages; the selection dialog closes once the selected communities
have been saved.
To enable messaging, the administrator must configure a reachable public HTTPS
callback address, restore VK_CALLBACK_MODE=required, restart the backend
services, and use Retry connection on the saved community. VK must confirm
the callback before the channel becomes active.
